MANILA, Philippines – Ginebra sends Manila Classico series to a deciding game 7, after defeating the Star Hotshots (91-67) on February 19, 2017 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Ginebra’s win is the biggest margin of the series, after having an average of 9pts in every win Ginebra wounded the Star Hotshots with 24pts tonight to send the series to a do or die game 7. Additionally the series only decided by 6.6 through 5 games.

Mercado leads the Ginebra with 21pts and 5 rebounds, while Tenorio explodes with 19pts after having an average of 7pts in the series. Joe Devance also finished with 14pts all in the third quarter. Japeth Aguilar also finished with 11pts and 10 rebounds.
Star Hotshots pushed the lead early with 22-11 until Ginebra blasted with 14-0 run to end the opening period, then a quick 5 unanswered points to stretch the lead 30-22. Hotshots also responded with 13-0 run to regain the lead and came out with 39-38 going into the break.
After trailed by 1pt in the first half Devance shoulders the Barangay in the third period to have an 62-54 advantage, then Sol Mercado wounded with 12pts in the final frame and held the biggest lead of the series with 91-65 in dying seconds before Brondial made a basket for the Star.
Pingris lead the Star with 14pts and 10 rebounds, Barroca also in double figure with 13pts while Reavis only held by 4pts after leading the star in game 5.
Game 7 of the Manila Classico series will be on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
