Manila, Philippines – Despite the announcement of President Duterte last March 16, 2020 on enhanced Community Quarantine. People working in the National Capital Region went home to their respective places in Bicol Region.
According to Dr. Ernie Vera, Regional Director of Health “DOH”, more than 80,000 Bicolano working in Luzon went home, despite the total lockdown raised by the government. So this 80,000 people will be classified by the Department of Health as Person under Monitoring “PUM”.
Based on the Department of Health record Bicol region now has 7 Persons under Investigation “PUI” due to Covid-19. Bicol Region is composed of 6 Provinces “Albay, Catanduanes, Masbate, Sorsogon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur”, with a total of 6,133,836 populations that could be at risk 14% or 858,737 of the population will have severe symptoms of Corona Virus.
If these 80,000 people will not cooperate in 14-day Quarantine period, there is a possibility that all of these people had already a symptom of Corona Virus and can easily transmit it to their family and neighbor. Legazpi City is the center and the largest city in Bicol Region.
As of this writing, Philippines already had 340 active cases with 25 deaths overall, meanwhile Italy’s death continues to rise, in just 2 days from 3,405 deaths, Italy now has 5,476 deaths in total.
