MANILA, Philippines – San Miguel Beermen bounce back and defeated Barangay Ginebra (99-88) to take a 2-1 advantage in PBA Philippine Cup finals on Wednesday, March 01, 2017 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Chris Ross led the Beermen with 24pts and 8 assists, plus 4 rebounds, but held with 5 turnovers. Cabagnot also added with 20pts and 3 rebounds plus 2 assist.
After a quit production for the 3 time MVP last game 2 June Mar Fajardo bounce back with 17pts and 18 rebounds plus 3 assists and 3 blocks. Marcio Lassiter who is ejected last game for taunting finished with 16pts.

After trailing by 41-29 in the 5 minute frame of the second period, Beermen slowly trim and regain the lead after June Mar Fajardo 3pt play and came up with 69-66 lead to end the third period.
After back-and-forth third quarter it happens again in the final period and Beermen could not leave Ginebra easily as Ferrer continues to light up when needed, after trailing 75-74 Ferrer explodes in downtown to help Ginebra 77-75 lead but Tubid quickly answer with a triple to regain the lead for Beermen.
Ginebra’s came up with 86-82 lead after a trey by Kevin Ferrer but the Beermen responded with 5-0 run to regain the lead 87-86 and answered directly by Joe Devance to put Ginebra by 88-87, but Ginebra went scoreless for the last 4 minute frame that enable the Beermen to stretch the lead and sealed with 99-88 victory.
Barangay Ginebra led by LA Tenorio with 16pts and 5 rebounds plus 5 assists, after nearly a triple-double output in game 2 Scottie Thompson only finished with 8pts, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Kevin Ferrer added 15pts off the bench, including 3 of 5 coming from beyond the arc.
Game 4 of the series will be on March 3, 2017 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
