MANILA, Philippines – San Miguel Beermen is now on the driver seat in the PBA Philippine Cup finals after defeating Barangay Ginebra (94-85) to take a commanding 3-1 lead on Friday, March 03, 2017 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
June Mar Fajardo led the Beermen with 20 points, 13 rebounds, 4 blocks and 3 assists and awarded for the fifth time for Best Player of the Conference.
Marcio Lassiter also added with 20pts, while Chris Ross poured with 17pts including 5 of 10 coming from beyond the arc plus 9 assists.

San Miguel Beermen built an early lead to start with 20-2 run, including 6 of 6 coming from beyond the arc in the early minute of the opening period.
Just how hot the starters of the Beermen in the opening period, their bench on the other hand had their own show in the second period as Espinas, Tubid, De Ocampo both hit a trey to start in the period and stretch the lead to 41-22 after Yancy hit another jump shot. Beermen continue to stretch their lead and came up with 55-34 at the half.
Beermen continue their hot offense in the third period and went 5-0 run to stretch their biggest lead to 60-34 but Ginebra able to trim the lead to 13 points.
Ginebra came up strong in the final period lead by Ferrer, who made 2 triples, but could not easily trim the lead to a single digit, they once cut to a single digit after LA Tenorio hit a triple in the 2 minute frame, then a layup by Aljon Mariano to make it 92-85 but the time is now in favored to the Beermen.
Barangay Ginebra led by Joe Devance with 22pts, Japeth Aguilar and LA Tenorio also added with 12 points each. Chris Ellis also finished 10pts off the bench in 5 of 5 shooting.
Game 5 of the series will be on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
