MANILA, Philippines – After a loss to the Washington Wizards and now at the hands of Chicago Bulls (94-87) at the United Center, Chicago, Illinois on March 02, 2017 (Eastern Time).
This was the first back-to-back loss of the Warriors this season, including 146 regular season games since losing back-to-back last April 05, 2015 against to Spurs (92-107) and April 07, 2015 to New Orleans Pelican (103-100).
Warriors’ loss to Cavaliers last 2015-2016 season is not included because it happens in the FINALS period not in the regular season.
Jimmy Butler led the Bulls with 22 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds plus 4 steals. Bobby Portis also finished in double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds and played higher minutes since the Bulls Traded Taj Gibson to Thunder. Dwayne Wade and Robin Lopez also in double figure with 12 points and 10 points respectively.
Despite Warriors played without Kevin Durant, who suffered Grade 2 MCL sprain against the Washington Wizards, Warriors still in control in first half and leading as much as (34-24) before the Bulls responded with 10-2 run to trim the lead 36-34 but Warriors shortly stretch the lead after Splash Brothers hit a pair of triples in the next position and came up with 51-47 lead at the half.
Chicago Bulls came up strong in the third period outscored the Warriors to (32-22), Bulls ignited by Rajon Rondo, who came up with 8pts in the quarter to put the Bulls up with 6 points.
Chicago Bulls took control game’s momentum in the final period, the Warriors also had a chance to break that momentum after a late run that put them ahead 85-84 halfway in the final period, but Bulls shut down the offense of the Warriors and sealed the game by closing 10-2 run. Warriors offense feels the absence of Kevin Durant as they went 0 of 11 coming from beyond the arc in the period alone.
Stephen Curry led Warriors with 23 points but went 2 of 11 coming from beyond the arc. Klay Thomspon also had a quite night and finished 13pts in 5 of 22 field goals including 1 of 11 in the three-point line. Draymond Green also added 12 points and 8 rebounds plus 7 assists.
