Manila, Phillipines – Far Eastern University holds Ateneo and Force a do or die games on Wednesday after beating Ateneo Blue Eagles today (November 26, 2016) with a tight win game (62-61) at Mall of Asia Arena.
This was the first win of the Tamaraws against Ateneo this season after losing twice this season by Ateneo.
With a close first half points of both teams with 3points lead of Far Eastern University (23-20) going into the break.
Ateneo Blue Eagles regained momentum in the third quarter and regain the lead by (42-35).
But the emergence of Jose and Arong offense in the final period prevent the Ateneo squad from snatching the game, Arong tied the game (55-55) with just under 2 minutes to play but the lead balloon easily to 5pts (55-60).
Ravena triple with 5.9seconds left trim the lead (58-60) but coach Nash Racela calling a time out directly and instructed a play, but Robinson Mental toughness to bounce the ball at the back of Ateneo’s player in inbound play sealed the game with a 2 free throws extended the lead (62-58). Ravena answered a meaningless long triple to end the game to trim the lead to just (62-61).
Jose’s double-double performance with 20points and 23boards lifted the Tamaraws while Aaron Black (son of Norman Black) leads the deflated Ateneo Blue Eagles with 11points.
Do or Die games will be on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 winner will face De La Salle University in finals.
