MANILA, Philippines – Ginebra powered up to even the series (2-2) and defeated Star Hotshots (93-86) behind Jervy Cruz, in their best of 7 semifinals of the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup on February 15, 2017 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Jervy Cruz came up with a season high 21 points, including 6 rebounds and 3 assists to even the series. Japeth Aguilar only shy with 1 board to have double-double again with 18pts and 9rebounds.
Chris Ellis also finished with 10pts of the bench for the Barangay Ginebra.

After a series of 6th deadlock and 3 lead changes in the opening period, Start Hotshot came up with 23-21 lead. Ginebra came up strong in the second period and regain the lead early with 26-25 that went 48-41 lead going into the second half.
After down by 52-43 in the third period Paul Lee came up strong for the Hotshots and went even again with 57 and 60 a piece but Ginebra still managed with 65-62 lead.
Ginebra’s take control the final period early with 71-62, Star Hotshots somehow trim the lead to 77-73 but came up short against Barangay who pushed the biggest lead with 85-75 in the final 3 minute frame.
Maliksi lead the Star Hotshots with 18pts, Jio Jalalon who had and 8pts explosion in the opening period also finished 16pts off the bench.
The series is now on best 3, game 5 will be on Friday 7:00pm.
