MANILA, Philippines – Magnolia clinch semi-final berth after defeated 7th seeded Batang Pier (86-79) in the 2018 PBA Philippine Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena on March 06, 2018.
Magnolia will now join San Miguel Beermen in the final four matchup. San Miguel Beermen will face the winner between Ginebra and Rain or Shine while Magnolia will play the winner between Aces and NLEX.
Magnolia who had a twice to beat advantage against Global Port (Batang Pier) down early as much as (26-6) half way mark in the opening period.

Batang Pier continues to hold 20pts in the second period with 14-34 before Magnolia pushed 18-2 run to cut the lead by 36-32 but Stanley Pringle will not easily put their team down extending their lead by double digit 45-34 at the half. Stanley Pringle, who
poured 19pts in the 2 quarters only finished the game with 31pts and 10 rebounds.
It was Magnolia shows at the second half outscored the Batang Pier (52-34).
Magnolia’s Bench dominates
Magnolia Hotshots bench with 50pts while Batang Pier only had 27pts
Mark Barroca led Magnolia Hotshots with 17 points in 60% shooting 6 of 10 from the field off the bench. Paul Lee also had a double-double with 14pts and 13 rebounds. Pingris and Sangalang also finished with 13pts and 11pts respectively.
Terrence Romeo along with Pringle finished with double digit with 14pts off the bench while Kelly Nabong only held by 5pts for Batang Pier.
