MANILA, Philippines – TNT Katropa is now one win away from the finals after a game 5 victory against the Beermen to take (3-2) advantage of their semifinal series on February 16, 2017 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
TNT Katropa’s win (101-94) put the defending all Filipino Cup champion on brink of elimination in the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals.
TNT Katropa’s veteran Ranidel De Ocampo, Jason Castro both finished with 18pts. Kelly Williams also finished with 18pts and 7 rebounds off the bench.

After a back-and-forth first quarter with a series of deadlock and lead changes Beermen came out on top with a 32-24 lead.
Going into the second quarter TNT Katropa came out strong outscored the Beermen by (26-8) to have a double digit lead at the half with 50-40.
TNT Katropa’s lead balloon to 53-40 after a triple by Ranidel De Ocampo in the opening of the third period, then Beermen responded with 17-4 run to even with 57 a piece and regain the lead after a triple basket of Alex Cabagnot 60-57 but TNT Katropa still manage with 73-69 lead after a series of lead changes.
Beermen had the chance to break the rhythm of the TNT Katropa after trimming the lead 83-82 in the final 5 minute frame plus a bonus that TNT Katropa is now over the foul limit under 4 minute frame, but San Miguel Beermen could not able to capitalize as Chriss Ross and June Mar Fajardo both missed their 2 free throws each. Then TNT Katropa’s lead stretch again to 93-85 in the final 2 minutes.
Arwind Santos lead the Beermen with 18 points, Cabagnot and Lassiter also combined with 33pts. June Mar Fajardo also finished with 13pts and 15rebounds.
San Miguel Beer will try to even the series on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
