Manila, Philippines – October 16, 2016, Game 5 of the Governor’s cup finals between Barangay Ginebra and Meralco Bolts.
Ginebra is now one win away to be named again as champion after winning in game 5 of their series.
Brownlee, who scored 10points in game 4, exploded in game 5 with 29 points along with his 10 boards. The Fast and the Furious also added 14pts combined.
Barangay controlled the first half of the game who lead 15points going to the break (54-39). Unlike Game 4 third quarter when Meralco had a big run and lead to end the third period. Ginebra protects their lead now and prevailed in the third period with 14points lead (73-59).

Barangay nearly loses their lead in the final quarter when Alapag hit 2 triples to cut the lead (79-71) under 4 minutes of play. The Bolts continue their (12-4) run, including Reynel Hugnatan 4/4 free throws (82-77) with 3:03 minutes to play. Alapag who missed a contested 3point attempt, made the Barangay to extend their lead on Mercado’s triple (85-77) then Brownlee added a basket on Tenorio’s assist (87-77).
Scottie Thompson, who nearly scoreless in the game added a clutch a triple plus 2 free throws to end the game (92-81).
Durham led Meralco with 20 points and 18 boards, Hugnatan also added 17points.
Game 5 win of Ginebra is the biggest lead for both teams as they average only 3.5pts.
Game 6 of this series will be on Wednesday, October 19, 2016.
