MANILA, Philippines – Barangay Ginebra’s is now 1 win away to take the Finals Trophy with and escape win (87-83) against the San Miguel Beermen taking (3-2) advantage in the PBA 2018 Commissioner’s Cup Final series at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on August 05, 2018, Sunday.

After having a blowout in each occasion it is finally down to the wire in the final 3 minute frame, Beermen riding with a 5 point lead after a left handed dunk by June Mar Fajardo in transition before Ginebra’s 8-0 spark lead by 6 points of Scottie Thompson. San Miguel Beermen went 0-10 after leading 83-78 in dying 2 minute frame.
Scottie Thompson led Barangay Ginebra with 20 points to go along with 11 rebounds and 3 assist. Justin Brownlee only held by 18 points after averaging 35 points in the series from game 1 to game 4, he finished the game with 9 rebounds and 4 assists in his worst night of the series in 8 of 21 in the field.
Greg Slaughter also finished in double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds, LA Tenorio also added 15 points.
After having an average 29 point differential in their game 1 and game 4 victory, tonight Ginebra only had a 4 point advantage, the series also decided by 25.3 points in each win of either team.
San Miguel Beermen had a dozen leads in the second quarter, but Fajardo’s foul trouble, gave Ginebra’s a lot of opportunities to attack the rim in the second quarter tying at 40-40 apiece at the half.
Reynaldo Balkman finished with 34 points and 20 rebounds was not enough as Beermen only had 5 bench points. June Mar Fajardo also added double-double figure with 23 points and 11 rebounds for the Beermen.
Barangay Ginebra will have a chance to finish the series, this Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
