MANILA, Philippines – San Miguel Beermen wire-to-wire win over the TNT KaTropa in their semifinal series opener with a final score of 111-98 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum tonight February 08, 2017.
Hot start of the Beermen in the opening period leads them to the biggest deficit of the night with 32-16 after the opening period. Beermen outscored the total production of TNT KaTropa in the three-point line area who convert 7 of 11 or 21pts out of the 32pts total in the period alone.

TNT KaTropa tries to trim that deficit in the second period lead by the best point guard in Asia “Jason Castro” , TNT KaTropa somehow trailed only 5 pts in the second period with 5 minutes more but Beermen still managed with double digits lead going into the break with 56-46.
Going into the third period Beermen continues their massive offense as they stretch again the lead with 66-51 early in the period. Beemen still holds a double digit lead going into the final period.
Marcio Lassiter leads San Miguel with 22 points together with his 8 rebounds 5 assists. Cebuano’s Reigning 3-time MVP June Mar Fajardo finished with 21pts and 8 rebounds. Alex Cabagnot also finished with 20 points .
Arwind Santos and Gabby Espinas also added in double digits who finished with 15 and 13 points, respectively.
Jason Castro leads the TNT KaTropa with 27pts and Kelly Williams with 24pts. Ranidel De Ocampo and Fonacier only finished with 7pts each while Troy Rosario did not contribute who went scoreless in the game.
Game 2 of this semifinal series of 2017 PBA Philippine Cup will be on Friday, February 10, 7:00 PM at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
