MANILA, Philippines – Barangay Ginebra San Miguel defeated San Miguel Beer (124-118) in extended 5 minutes to even the series (1-1) of the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup Finals on February 26, 2017 at the Quezon Convention Center in Lucena City.
After leading as much as 26pts in the first half, Ginebra is behind by 2pts in the final 3 seconds in the regular period before Joe Devance made a crucial basket to send the game into overtime with 110 apiece.

Japeth Aguilar led Ginebra with 23pts plus 12 rebounds and 4 blocks while Scottie Thompson just shy of 2 assists for triple-double and finished with 18pts and 18 rebounds. Joe Devance finished with 16pts plus 7 rebounds. Kevin Ferrer also added 21pts off the bench for Ginebra.
After combining with 19pts in game 1 starters of Ginebra bounced back with 83pts combined.
If San Miguel Beermen dictates the tempo in their series opener, Ginebra is in the driver seat most of the time tonight and lead by 67-43 at the half. Beermen came up strong in the second half and went 15-0 run to start the third period.
San Miguel Beermen converted 7 of 10 coming from beyond the arc to outscored Barangay by (39-18) to cut the lead by 85-82.
San Miguel Beermen continues their hot offense in the final period after Ronald Tubid explodes with 2 triples, then regain the lead (96-95) after Tubid rewarded with 3 free throws on Ferrer Flagrant Penalty 1, then a basket of Espinas to extend 98-95 but Ginebra able to extend the game after trailing by 2pts in the final 3 seconds behind Devance basket.
Arwind Santos led the Beermen with 23pts plus 15 rebounds. Fajardo and Ross also combined with 26pts and both fouled out in the game.
Marcio Lassiter who made 4 of 5 triples in the third period ejected in the final 2 minutes of the third quarter after taunting plus an Unsportsmanlike Foul to Ferrer in the second quarter, he finished with 21 points and 4 rebounds.
Ronald Tubid finished with 16pts including 4 of 6 triples and provided spark for the Beermen after Lassiter got ejected in the third period. He also had mental lapses in the regulation for not passing the ball to an open team mates for a possible basket and a 3pt lead.
Gabby Espinas also added with 13pts including the crucial 3point basket in the final 23seconds of the fourth period to put San Miguel 109-108 lead.
Game 3 of the series will be on March 1, 2017 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
