MANILA, Philippines – San Miguel Beermen dominate Ginebra to open PBA Philippine Cup finals in a lopsided win (109-82) on February 24, 2017 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
It has been more than 4 months since the hurtful loss of the Beermen against the Barangay in game 5 of the PBA Governors’ Cup last October 2016. Tonight its Beermen revenge to open the PBA Philippine Cup finals in a blowout win.

Chris Ross and Fajardo led the Beermen with 17pts each, Fajardo also finished with 8 rebounds and 3 blocks, Ross added with 8 assist. Gabby Espinas also added 16pts off the bench for the Beermen.
The defending 2 time PBA Philippine Cup champion dictates the game since the opening period, after LA Tenorio opens a basket for the Barangay Ginebra, Beermen ignited with 17-2 and lead as much as 24pts in the opening period.
After leading by 21pts at the half, Beermen take control the game and enjoyed with 85-49 lead in the third period before Beermen sealed with 109-82 victory.
Beermen also made 10 of 29 field goals coming from beyond the arc opposite for Barangay Ginebra that went 3 of 13.
Barangay Ginebra led by Chris Ellis with 13pts off the bench while their starters only combined with 19pts.
Game 2 of the series will be in Lucena City this coming Sunday on February 26, 2017.
